WHERE TO EAT, HIKE and PLAY ON YOUR FAMILY VACATION TO RUIDOSO
A couple weeks ago, we felt the travel bug and decided somewhat last minute to take a family vacation to Ruidoso! I have a more in depth blog post all about our trip (and how Covid affected it) here!
If you’re looking for some tips on a trip to Ruidoso, I’ve given you all of our favorite places to Eat, Hike and Play!
EAT
Quick and yummy:
Jorge’s Café – Green Chili Enchiladas are unreal
The Village Buttery- don’t leave without a slice of pie!
Hike
Lower Cedar Creek Trail – great for an easy hike with little’s
Monjeau Lookout via Crest Trail- This is a pretty moderate hike, but there is an amazing area ¾ mile down with huge boulders that are perfect for kids to play on. We went about 2 miles in and back.
Perk Ridge Trail- We underestimated this one with two kids, but I don’t regret it! It’s actually a really pretty trail with a great view. The last .5 mile is a bit tough on the switchbacks up the mountain, but we just took plenty of breaks.
Argentina Peak and Little Bonito Trail- We had to leave suddenly due to a family emergency so we didn’t get to do this hike, but it’s one of the highest rated hikes in the area and top of our list for next time!
Play
Alto Lake - Lots of areas to bring a picnic blanket or chairs and just hangout or fish
Grindstone Lake - so gorgeous and picturesque. Not a lot of shade, so bring plenty of sunscreen!
Flying J Ranch
Alameda Zoo - about a 45 minute drive but you can knock out the zoo and white sands in one day trip!
White Sands
Ski Apache gondola ride - a little pricier than we wanted to spend but would be a ton of fun!
Pillow's Funtrackers
We had the best time on this trip and we will for sure be back. If you’d like more details on our trip, head over to my full blog post here!
