We just got back from 5 magical days of hiking and exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor! Easiest Hike with great views - The Ship Harbor Trail

The Ship Harbor Trail was our first hike of our trip and it was the perfect introduction to Acadia! Tucked away in Acadia National Park, the Ship Harbor Trail is a real gem for anyone who loves a good nature walk. This 1.3-mile loop, found near the southwestern tip of Mount Desert Island, is an easy-breezy hike that's perfect for families, casual strollers, or anyone just wanting to enjoy some gorgeous coastal views without a big workout.

You'll wander through pretty forests, peaceful meadows, and along the rocky shore, with the ocean's sights and sounds keeping you company. Look out for seabirds, wildflowers, and maybe even a harbor seal chilling on the rocks. With its gentle path and stunning scenery, the Ship Harbor Trail is a must-do for anyone visiting Acadia and looking for a taste of its natural beauty.

It’s an added bonus that it’s just down the street from The Bass Harbor Lighthouse, making it the perfect hike before our after visiting the lighthouse!

Best Schoodic Hike- The Anvil Trail

Hiking the Anvil Trail in Schoodic Peninsula, part of Acadia National Park, is an adventure you won’t want to miss. This 2.2-mile round trip hike is moderately challenging, making it perfect for those looking to get their heart pumping while soaking in breathtaking views.

Located on the less crowded Schoodic Peninsula, the trail starts near the Blueberry Hill parking area and winds through beautiful forests before ascending to the summit of the Anvil. Along the way, you'll be treated to stunning vistas of the rugged coastline and the Atlantic Ocean. The rocky outcrops and unique geological features make every step an exciting discovery. If you're visiting Acadia and want to experience a quieter, yet equally stunning part of the park, the Anvil Trail is a must-hike.

Best Overall Hike- The Beehive Trail

Hiking the Beehive Trail in Acadia National Park is a real thrill for anyone who loves a bit of adventure. This 1.5-mile loop near Sand Beach is famous for its steep climbs and iron rungs that make your heart race. It's a tough hike, perfect for those who are comfortable with heights and looking for a challenge.

As you climb, you’ll get rewarded with amazing views of the park, the sparkling Atlantic Ocean, and the gorgeous coastline. The mix of adrenaline from the iron ladders and the stunning scenery makes the Beehive Trail a must-do for any thrill-seeker visiting Acadia.

I won’t lie, I almost chickened out the night before after watching videos of the hike. The iron rung ladders and the narrow bridges intimidated me but I knew it  would be worth it for the views and for the experience! I would definitely not recommend this hike for kids or for people who have a legitimate fear of heights.

If you're up for it, this hike is an unforgettable experience and a must-do for hikers going to Acadia National Park!
