5 Best Denver Coffee Shops
One of our favorite things to do in new cities is check out local coffee shops! After years of swearing off coffee, I was finally successful in getting Jackson to become a coffee lover while we lived in Frankfurt. He’s now 10x the coffee snob that I am and our kitchen is full of craft coffee tools and pour overs and single-origin beans and other things that I only kind of understand. Denver has some of our favorite coffee shops and after trying out plenty, here are 5 of our go-to Denver coffee shops!
CORVUS
AMBIANCE
Corvus has a darker, more quiet and chill ambiance. It’s full of coffee drinkers who know their coffee and even has a training bar for cupping classes. What makes Corvus realy unique is that their roaster is right in the middle of the coffee shop, which we found to be pretty cool! Probably one of the least kid-friendly locations on the list but would be great to study or work in.
WHAT TO ORDER
Corvus has some really awesome seasonal drinks, like the Autumn latte and the ginger peach latte. A fan favorite is their New Orleans cold brew, which is sweet and creamy and delicious. We also tried the Kyoto Cold Brew and it was great, smooth and refreshing!
AMBIANCE
Lula Rose is such a little cute coffee shop. Right off Colfax near Cheeseman park, we stopped here for a cup of coffee and then roamed the park. It’s definitely small, but if you’re lucky enough to find a spot you’ll love how cozy this place is! Plants at every turn, cute yellow cups, a PINK espresso machine and an abundance of natural light! Important to note that they don’t offer wifi!
WHAT TO ORDER
They bake their own patries in shop and the bagel we had was amazing! I saw the Cortado was highly recommended and it did not disappoint. They also make their own non-dairy milks in the store which I thought was pretty neat!
AMBIANCE
We tried out the Thump coffee location near Cap Hill and it was surprisingly spacious. Lots of room to study, work or just hangout. It’s got tons of natural light and a really cool interior brick wall. They had a great seating area with a comfy couch and lots of space, making this one of the more kid friendly shops on the list.
WHAT TO ORDER
Lots of single origin coffee available and the vanilla latte was one of my favorite. Also, they have a great food menu with lots of options. The avocado toast really was great!
AMETHYST
AMBIANCE
This is one of the smallest coffee shop on the list but one of my favorites for its vibe! It’s so light and airy and felt very European to me with all the natural light wood and plants galore! The baristas were super friendly and they actually include gratuity in their prices, which is interesting. They had a really great hangout area which would be perfect for a small group or to meet a friend!
WHAT TO ORDER
Amethyst offers some really unique espresso tonic options! Check out their specials before ordering! They’re also known for having a great Matcha Latte. I had the honey cinnamon latte and it was so great. Jackson had a Columbian drip and said it was very good but not amazing. I would go for one of their specialty drinks and enjoy the fun setting!
AMBIANCE
This was my favorite scene of all the coffee shops on this list! When we went in June, they had the garage-like door open so the indoor and outdoor seating all blended together. Kind of industrial but also kind of chic and so open and cool! I could definitely spend all day studying or working here.
WHAT TO ORDER
They use a great roaster out of LA called intelligentsia and the pour over we had was great. Also, served in such a fun Edison bulb-like carafe. I also highly recommend the Iced Angelo. A little sweet, but such a yummy iced coffee. We also tried their cold brew and it was nice and smooth!
