1. Ring sling

There’s no question that having your hands free is one of the most impactful ways to make traveling with little ones easier. There’s nothing more stressful than trying to hold a baby while lugging around tons of gear and trying to hold your toddlers hand in a busy airport. My favorite way to free up my hands and keep my baby close is using a ring sling. Ring slings are essentially a long piece of fabric that is held together by two metal rings near your shoulder. This allows your baby to stay snuggled up and close to you while allowing your hands to be free! I prefer ring slings over other baby carriers for a couple reasons- the first being that ring slings don’t have tons of extra fabric. I use other baby wraps here and there but I struggle with the extra fabric that seems to be hanging everywhere.

I love that ring slings have less fabric and it doesn’t have to wrap around my body multiple times. Along those lines, I also love that ring slings are so easy to put on. After the initial learning curve of learning how to adjust the sling in the rings, its as easy as putting it over your shoulder, setting your baby inside and adjusting the fabric. Moby has a cost-affordable sling for under $50, here, with great reviews. I know this list is specifically supposed to be products under $50, but I can’t mention ring slings without mentioning my favorite ring sling brand, wildbird.

They’re *slightly* over $50 but come in the cutest patterns and a wide variety of fabrics. I live in my wild bird sling while traveling with little ones! I should mention- the one con to flying with a ring sling is that the metal will set off the metal detector at the airport so you’ll have to take out baby to go through security. This is the one factor that makes wraps, like the Moby, more convenient. However, overall when considering all other factors, I still prefer the ring sling every time!

2. Travel Changing Pad

One thing you can count on when traveling with a baby is that you will spend plenty of downtime changing diapers. Changing your baby on the go can come with lots of added stress- gross bathroom changing tables or no changing tables at all, can make for some tricky situations. No one wants to put their baby on a dirty airport floor or a gross gas station changing table and that’s why you need this changing pad in your life!

This changing pad is particularly useful, because it has pockets and sections to hold everything you need for your on-the-go diaper changing needs! This way, all you have to worry about is pulling out the changing pad and everything you need is already at your fingertips! No digging through your bag- past your wallet and keys, around your headband you wore last week and your toddlers half-eaten cliff bar to find the last diaper at the very bottom of your bag. Clearly, I’m speaking from lots of experience here!

This travel changing pad allows you to keep everything you need together in one convenient space. It also has a nice feature that allows you to unzip the pad itself from all of the storage areas, in case you’re tight on space and only need the pad itself with you on your travels!

For the trendy mom, I can’t move on without mentioning this super travel diaper cute changing pad. It is definitely less functional than the one above but it really is so cute and your baby will look adorable on this trendy diaper changing pad.

3. Frida Portable Sound Machine

A huge game changer for us in our travels with our kids has been a portable sound machine. This is a must have! We’ve tried a few different ones but our favorite is hands-down the Frida Baby portable sound machine. Trust me on this and get this for your sanity and your baby’s on the go sleep success.

There are many reasons why this sound machine trumps all others in the portable sound machine world! The first being how long it holds its charge. This thing lasts what feels like forever! And when it does eventually die, it comes with a super convenient charger that we often charge in the car usb port or even through our laptops. I love that we don’t have to worry about keeping up with or changing batteries.

Another reason the Frida Baby sound machine is superior is the added feature of it also being a night light, with dimmable options. I was surprised at how often we use this feature! It has made middle of the night feedings so much smoother when we’re on the road and I don’t have my usual bedside lamp available. I love that the light has varying dimming options, so I can set the brightness at just the right spot to provide enough light to feed my baby without being too bright and waking him up.

Lastly, the Frida Baby portable sound machine is the best on the market because of its sound. This might sound silly, but I genuinely think that the Frida Baby sound machine has the most serene and soothing sound on the market! We tried a couple others that sounded harsh and a little too intense. I struggle to sleep with sound machines on and with the Frida Baby’s soft white noise, it doesn’t bother me at all! This is a product you need in your life, especially during travels but also just to have in the car anytime you’re on the move and traveling with your baby- particularly if you, like us, have toddlers that are rarely quiet when you’re baby is trying to sleep!

4. Travel Baby Bath Tub

Lets be real for a minute- sometimes when things are crazy while traveling and we don’t have time for everything, the first thing to go is giving the baby a bath. Especially if they had an overall clean, spitup-less and blowout-less day! That being said, having a portable baby bathtub makes it easy on those days when your baby definitely does need a bath!

This portable baby bathtub blows up and deflates super conveniently and won’t take up a ton of space in your luggage! It will take the stress out of giving baby a bath on the go, no mater what tub or sink you’re having to work with! An added bonus to this inflatable tub is that if your baby isn’t quite stable in the tub yet, you can use it in your tub at home to help give them support!

5. Portable High Chair

One of the things we struggled the most with when traveling with babies was being able to enjoy meal times without having to hold a squirming baby who is used to eating in a high chair. Having a baby in your lap for every meal time on a trip more than a couple days can just get really exhausting. Enter the Liuliuby Travel Harness Seat. This product is genius because it solves the problem of not having a high chair, without having to lug around a bulky booster seat. It folds up easily and doesn’t take up much space at all! The reviews on this thing are raving, so you know it’s good! It works on most chairs as long as they have a back.

Traveling with babies doesn’t have to be overwhelming and intimidating and these products will help you feel more confident on your next trip!
